You are renovating your bathroom and are looking for ways to jazz it up a bit and not be boring. Electrical can be one way to make your neighbors drool with envy with using unique items that take your bathroom to the next galaxy. Some of them you may have heard of, some you may have not. We are going to to go through some of the more special electrical items and unique things that you can add thinking outside the box of ordinary.
Especially in larger homes, steam showers are a popular luxury item to have. Instead of having to go to a spa, have a steam room built right into the shower! Not only are they relaxing, but you might just want to hang out in there all day! In order to add one of these, make sure that your electrical service can handle the load by consulting your local electrician.
Heat Lamp or Infrared Ceiling Heaters
This is a game changer for when you get out of the shower or bath and stand below infrared heat coming from above. Not only does it feel relaxing, but helps to dry you off in a unique way.
Heated Towel Bar
This a unique bathroom item that I was skeptical to install for my first customer, but quickly got over it. A warm towel to grab feels quite nice on the skin after a hot bath or shower. One of the many spa like treatments you can bring home.
Heated Toilet Seat or Bidet
Adding an electrical outlet behind the toilet will give you the option to add a bidet or a heated toilet seat. This is a great feature for people are looking for a unique way to do your business in the bathroom and feel like a king or queen in the throne room!
Electric Hand Dryer
When you go out in public, there are always automatic hand dryers to dry your hands. Why not splurge on a wall hand dryer and be a little unique. In this day and age with concern for spreading germs, this might be something to add to your "must have" list.
TV in the Bathroom
While this can't happen in every bathroom due to size and electrical code rules limiting a safe location, this may be on the radar. For the sports enthusiast that doesn't want to miss a minute of the game, this might be for you.
Cabinet Lighting/Detail Lighting
One way to jazz up a bathroom nicely is to put small lights inside a built in cabinet. Not only are they functional but they also look cool. Other detail lighting ideas might be to have a translucent countertop and run lighting inside for a dramatic effect. If you can imagine it, you can usually incorporate it into a bathroom design and make detail lighting succeed.
One of a Kind Bath Fan
Every bathroom has an exhaust fan. Why don't you kick it up a notch and make it multifunctional. On the market, there are bath fans that also double as a light, or speaker. That way, you can bring music into the bathroom and sing in the shower. Or being able to see with an extra light sure helps as well.
In Floor Heat
This is not a super unique item for bathrooms, as it has been trendy to heat up that tile floor for a while. I thought that I would mention it as it is a nice extra for any bathroom where cold feet is a problem. If you are only getting one extra electrical item in your bathroom, this luxury more than likely will make your short list.
Jet Tubs/Whirlpool Tubs
If you enjoy a bath once in a while, consider getting a jet/whirlpool tub installed. Then when you soak in the tub, you will feel more refreshed when you get out. It makes "Splish, Splash, I was Taking a Bath!" all the more something to look forward to.
While this item is not usually installed directly in a inside a bathroom it usually ties in with a spa like experience. Most people forget that you can buy either as kits or separate prebuilt rooms that you can relax those achy bones in. It is a nice addition to a luxury bathroom if
your pockets can afford it and space allows.
